Rakko patted his friend on the shoulder. "It's ok, matie. There was nothing ye could have done. It wasn't yer fault. Who was this band of vermin?"

Silas sighed, drank out of his beaker, and swished the contents around in the glass. "They're the ones over by Marshank. We were taken aboard as slaves onto their ship. Some of us escaped, and attempted to burn the ship. I try and kill off their foraging parties, but one beast can only do so much. Well, at any rate, you came for that book, so let's see what it says. My father once told me, 'Never dwell on the past. Think towards the present.' "

"It means," Silas explained, not looking towards the mousebabe, "that you must move on and stop thinking about what you could've done, because you can't change the past." He finally looked over at Dwopple, who indicated a text within the tome. "Oh. That. Well, it says here..." Silas briefly read through it.

Rakko was staring off into space, thinking about what Silias told him. "Those are two sad stories, friends. If the Abbess wouldn't mind, I would be glad to help ye rid these woods of yer vermin enimies." The Abbess stroked Dwopples little head as she listened to what the book told. When Silas had finished, Soubi looked at him. "That sure dose explain some things we missed in our records. Would you mind If I took the book back with me to the Abbey. Ill send somebeast back to return it to you when I've done if you have left our home by then." Serval turned to Dwopple. "What do you think of the great mouse, eh? I'm sure you could become a great warrior, just like him if you tried."

Dwopple thought about this for a moment. "yea! i needa sword though." he said, looking around. A stick on the ground did fine. He jumped from the table, picking up the stick. " now i be a gweat warr'ia!" he said, brandishing hit stick in his tiny paws.

Rakko smiled. And jumped from the table. He picked up a 'sword' from the ground and pointed it at Dwopple. "Ye wanna fight little one? Think ye take meh on?" The Abbess tried to stiffle a giggle behind a paw.

"Redwaaaaaaal!" Rakkocried and smiled breifly as he blocked a few of the strokes but let one or two miss his blad and nick him in the shoulder or footpaw. When one striked his chest after he moved his sword out of the way, he fell dramatically to the ground and weailed, "Im down! Oh, he's killed me!" He closed his eyes and let his head fall to the side, a grinn still spread across his face.
The Abbess tried to keep from laughing by taking another bight of the food but she couldn't help it. After she had swallowed the bight she started to laugh. When Rakko had been 'killed', she called Dwopple to the side and looked at him, now that her laughter had died down. Young'un. Where did you here that cry before?"

"Hmm. No reason." She sat back and thought things over in her head. "What was your Papa's name?"

The Abbess smiled at the dibbun as he mentioned that his name was papa. 'of course he wouldn't know his real name' Then when he said his name had been Martin her smile faded slightly, and Rakko arose from the dead. He stood and walked up to the mousebabe. "Martin? Did he ever tell you stories? about what he did before he came to settel into your home?" He placed a paw on Dwopple's shoulder.

Rakko smiled, as well did Soubi and the Abbess. Not many creatures knew that Redwalls oridinal Great Warrior had a chiled. "Did he ever speak of the Abbey? It is a great redplace, built with red sandstone bricks. Did he ever talk of his life with us?"
